Fletcher said the driving age should be raised, but I say it shouldn't because even though there were 30,000 deaths of 15-17 year olds in the years 1995-2004, but these statistics decreased, according to EHow News, when some restrictions were placed on 16 year old drivers. Therefore, with just a few restrictions, the death rate decreased and 16 year olds can still drive.

Jamie says the driving age should not be raised because if you got a car and then the driving age changed and you couldn't drive it you would be mad, but I say the driving age should be raised because 16 year olds might not know a lot about oil or oil leaks and be careless about it and may cause oil problems. The Gulf of Mexico had 47 million gallons of oil dumped in it and that could have been done by some inexperienced drivers. 16 year olds might not have money for gas and lose their money and have to borrow from parents, making the parents struggle with financial needs. Therefore, 16 year olds can't take care of their car and don't know much about it.

Phillip says that the driving age should be raised because teens joke around with driving, but I say the driving age should not be raised because studies also show that risky effects of males beginning around 16-23 years old, so you can't just ban males from driving until a good age. Most 16 year olds find out when they first start driving is that driving is not a game, it’s a serious matter. So, it’s best if they start driving at age 16 so they can figure out the serious matters in driving. Therefore, once teens start driving they will realize it's a serious matter.

Brianne says that the driving age shouldn't be raised because 16 year olds need to drive themselves around too, but I say the driving age should be raised because teenagers should be working on more important things than driving, Teenagers need to worry about school and getting into a college rather than worrying about driving. Teenagers should be working on school and grades, not driving. Teenagers should also be helping around the house and learning how to take care of themselves once they move out. Helping around can teach them a good skill and be more responsibly once they get their license. Therefore, not having the ability to drive can help teens on education and responsibility.

They said they should change the driving age and I agree because According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety say that 16 year old driver have more accidents on the highway than any other age group. Therefore, 16 year old are unsafe drivers.

They said that the government should raise the driving age but, I say they shouldn't because according to an article by A. J. Rox, 16 year old crash the most often because they are experienced because they are starting driving. But, if you start at the age 16, you’ll be just as inexperienced as a 16 year old driver, so it’s not helping the cause. Therefore, 18 year olds will be just as inexperienced as a new young driver.
