I think teams should also be able to pick whatever mascot and team name they want because members of the team will work harder if they have a mascot they wanted cheering them on. Therefore, the coach would have a better team and their team could attract fans by how good the could be doing. Also, a lot of teams are capable of picking a good mascot that people wont be mad about. The coach wont have to go through all that trouble to ask permission or anything. Mascots are just to entertain people not to make enemies with others. Therefore, some people can be responsible and should be able to pick their own mascot.

STAR said "Having Native names also encourages opposing teams to yell Kill the Indian, Scalp the Sioux, etc. ...This hurts Native children terribly." and i agree with them because that could make people afraid. They wouldn't want any part of that team. Therefore, it's just plain rude to go out and say something like that.

I agree, i would feel disrespected if their was a native American mascot and I was Native American. People need to pick the right mascot because there's no reason to hurt peoples feelings. Every time they hear it on TV or something, i'm sure they get hurt feelings. Therefore, there is nothing good coming out of hurting peoples feelings!

I agree with Madison because a lot of people can get hurt feelings if they are Native Americans. A lot of teams can lose fans and a lot of fighting could happen. Therefore, it would be better to just pick a friendly, but still competitive mascot in the first place.

I think that they should change mascots and make sure that they get some kind of permission for that mascot because it can offend people and hurt there feelings, especially if a lot of stereotypes get created. Therefore, it would make people mad and might hate their team and they could tell everyone about it, causing that team to have a lot of people against them and not on their side.
